Things I Literally Need : Stella & Bow Bracelet

1 Apr

Can you think back to 2004?

Ten whole years of hormones and Harry Potter releases ago feels like an awful long time, and you might need some serious mind yoga to remember it.

Never fear, the loopy and intensely tuned-in fashion world is here to rescue you!

Aptly entitled the ‘Burn Book Capsule Collection’, the LA-based jewellery brand has created a range of pieces that every one that has ever seen Mean Girls – which came out in 2004 –  literally needs. Of course, due to the rules of supply and demand, there are not enough for this to work, so basically you need to get one before it’s too late.

Little hearts engraved with ‘Fetch’ and those broken hearted double necklaces we used to have when we were little that said ‘best friends’, except this time they say ‘Best Bitches.’ And then, this gold plated bracelet. So fetch.

OOTD – DIY and Wolf Online

25 Mar

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAs a very strict rule, I am not a DIY’er. I am intensely clumsy and should not therefore, be allowed in the presence of scissors. This weekend though, I approached the scissors, picked them up, and actually managed to use them without drawing blood. By DIY’ing the old jeans that I have come to hate, I have turned them into a ripped magnificence and it feels as though I have new jeans, which is great because I am feeling the student poverty hard at the moment.

Will you please take a look at the rings I’m wearing and gasp as is only appropriate in the presence of such beauty. They are from Wolf Online, which is a home made and beautiful boutique all the way over in Australia. The delivery is free WORLDWIDE and the prices are extremely decent anyway. Safe to say, I love them to pieces and I’d be really disappointed if you didn’t go and check them out right now here.

OOTD: More Pastels

19 Mar

Don’t trust anyone who says that too much of a good thing is bad for you. They are a) boring, and b) BORING. I’m all for too much cake and too much laughing: maximalism in life, if you will.

I know that you really couldn’t class this outfit as maximalist, but you have to admit that I have dug right into the cereal box of pastels with a gigantic ladle and eaten the whole thing with a pint of milk (please go with my metaphor.)

I bagged this amazing Gap trench coat from eBay for a mere fiver. It’s in pristine condition and is as near enough to the Burberry version as a student living off jacket potatoes that have things sprouting from them could possibly ever hope for.

These pics were shot by Sheffield local aspiring fashion photog Abby May. Find her blog here and here!

The Trends Of Spring and Summer 2014

13 Mar

The cobwebs have come off my Ray Bans and they’re skew wiff on my face because they are so old. Spin classes are ending in sliding off the saddle in a puddle of sweat (even more so than usual, that is.) I’m wearing my lilac trench coat.

Is it…spring?

I know this is going to jinx everything ever but it’s finally sunny and that means it’s time to step over the FW14/15 stuff we’ve been staring bleary eyed at in the weak grey light of February. It’s time for the grotesque flowers, the too-short tunics and the dolly mixture shades (okay, I’ve already been doing those a lot.) This year boasts such a feminine and vibrant pallette and it is finally finally time to rip off the tights and get down to wearing the shit out of them!

bohoEven if you didn’t take a gap year, you can totally dress like you’ve just been getting comatose in the ruins bars of Budapest and clinging to the roof of an Indian train. Basically, Nicole Richie everything up with inapproprioately long tassells and fringes that will drag in the mud at Glasto. I die at Valentino’s maximilaist tunics and you can get out your Lana Del Rey flower crown again from last year!

florals

“Florals, for spring? Groundbreaking.” No, there is nothing earth shatteringly diverse about flowers in spring, but you still want to do it, don’t you. You don’t have to go textbook like at Christopher Kane but otheriwse go mental. Stick ’em everywhere.

pastelsI’ve already talked about this one a lot. It’s the best. Just google SS14 Burberry and copy everything okay? okay.

artI have to say that I’m not a big fan of this trend but it was so ubiquitous that I’d be a bad fashionista to not point it out. Giant faces on T-shirts have never ever been chic, and in my opinion, Miuccia Prada saying tha they suddenly are doesn’t make them un-ugly. Instead, take a look at that middle look by Dior and tell me that you don’t want to look like you’re wearing bubble bath separates adorned with one neat little picture in the middle.

I Woke Up Like This

11 Mar

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

When you wear a T-shirt that brashly says “I Woke Up Like This”, you’d think that it would be the focal point of your outfit. But I hate rules, so I threw out the rulebook and on this coat. Oh, this coat. It’s from ASOS but I got it on eBay which of course means that I got it half price. It’s in mint condish apart from a rip on the inner lining which no one will ever see unless they get up close and personal to my armpit.

I think what this T-shirt says more than anything is: hey, I rock and I don’t care if you’re giving me weird evils because of it. I think all clothes should say this. Wear what you want guys, you look fab. Even if maybe okay perhaps you didn’t wake up like this.

OOTD : Burberry Cowgirl

7 Mar

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

She’s a silver lining, lone ranger riding through an open space.

This is one of my favourite ever outfits. It’s like watching The Wolf of Wall Street, eating pizza followed by a cheesecake from the Church Inn in Mobberley and then going and getting cocktails in London with the Arctic Monkeys. That’s how this outfit makes me feel. You can keep your ketamine, because I’m a fashion junkie.

The shirt is an ideal dupe of the IT piece of Burberry FW13 and it was so cheap from the amazing American site: Persun Mall. The shoes? Not as expensive as they look because they were just FIFTEEN pounds from H&M. And that hat. Oh, the hat. If I could write sonnets then all fourteen lines would be dedicated to it. It’s ideal and it’s a tenner. Get it here.

Have a great weekend lovers, and for the love of God see Wolf of Wall Street if you still haven’t.

OOTD: Underwear As Outerwear

1 Mar

lingerie2

While we’re all getting excited about FW14, I’m also still enjoying the FW13 trends that have disappeared under the glitter of fashion month’s ever moving cycle. I absolutely adore the lingerie as outerwear that Marc Jacobs sent down his hotel corridor of a catwalk last year in New York and so I’m ignoring the rules of sartorial progress and wearing it still.
