Personal Fitness and Achey Knees With Pro Balance Gym

17 Apr

I’ve currently got this really weird pain in the muscles on the inside of my knees. I have never had pain here before, but of course I have never been worked out as I was by Andy Jeffries on Tuesday.

Andy is a personal trainer, and has abused the fabulous knees of people like Beyonce and Justin Timberlake in his time at his own gym Pro Balance which has been in business for fifteen years now.

After just an hour, I know a lot more about the tragic state of my body, and how I can seriously improve it. I called him a torture-master when I reviewed his gym for VIVA magazine last year, and I’m tempted to resurrect the term. After a little cardio, I do press-ups, burpees, squats, assisted chin lifts and walking lunges in never-ending reps before a little ab work. Fit or not, that hurts.

It’s a good pain that makes you feel seriously fantastic about yourself, and if you want, you can now link up with Andy via Skype when you’re away on business, at university, or literally so lazy that you can’t be bothered to travel into Manchester (it’s okay, I get you.)

As well as tender muscles, I also came away with this recipe for a re-hydration drink that also burns fat, I already love it and seriously recommend it:

  • 250ml fruit juice
  • 1 litre cold water
  • a pinch of salt

Find Andy and his gym on Twitter at @ProBalance1 and online here

Find the gym on Jacksons Row near Albert’s Square.
