Inspiration : The Most Wearable Looks From NYFW

14 Feb

One thing that I’m very frequently faced with when I admit my love for fashion are very confused people asking what on God’s Earth some of the things that make their way down the runway at catwalk shows actually are. When I’ve reassured them that I am in fact not single handedly responsible for some of the monstrosities that are admittedly shown at fashion shows these days, I remind them that fashion is an art. They’re often skeptical, always unreassured and who can blame them – have you seen The Row’s show this season!?

I guess that this is a post to those people – yes, some fashion looks appear abhorrent to the untrained eye. Yes, some looks appear abhorrent to any eye. But if you’re not going to accept that designers are artists and they are not intending for your to wear their catwalk creation on the street (unless you are Anna Dello Russo), then I digress and admit that I too am sometimes puzzled by fashion. This then, is an amalgamation of all the actually wearable looks that came from New York Fall/Winter 2014 Fashion Week. Contrary to popular opinion, designers do actually know what they’re doing. But not Mary-Kate and Ashley at The Row it appears (seriously, Google it.)

I point out that the key word is ‘SHOW.’ It is not meant to be a power point presentation discussing inventory – it is entertainment, created by artists.
