Inspiration: Coloured Front Doors

5 Feb

I don’t only love fashion. I do in fact like everything that is pretty, smells nice and is generally quite expensive. One of these things (though I’ve never smelled one) is the allure of colourful front doors. They don’t sell these in Zara and that’s probably a good thing because if they did then I would own an awful lot of them. They would be scattered all over my room but I would have no house to put them on and would undoubtedly cry at the fact that I had absolutely no doors for my house to wear.  I am that person who walks past other people’s houses and, if their front door is grey or pink or duck egg blue, I look at it for far too long because it isn’t white and therefore everything about their house is jus wonderful.

This is something that particular happens in the posh parts of London when everyone and their butler has a perfect-looking door; the people of Chelsea must be afraid I am some sort of lecherous stalker when in fact I just like their door a bit too much. I love them. It is one of my dreams to one day own a door like the ones below, though I think it might take a lot of bribery and puppy dog eyes to convince Simon that we should get one. He wouldn’t want anyone mistaking us for the witch in Hansel and Gretel with the house made of sweets. The links to these marvellous doors can be found on my pinterest.

I love this design but I think only some houses can pull off the ‘coloured’ front door look. I love the pastel shades and the grey.

I really enjoy a pretty door. Chelsea people have got it just right, how beautiful is that door handle? 😀

The doorknob is equally as necessary as the paint I think!!! Jess x

ahh yes! When I lived in Chelsea I used to wander off into the side streets just to see the facades of the houses as they all had something unique about them.

If you like the doors of Chelsea, you will melt at the coloured streets of Notting Hill

I actual can’t believe that I’ve never seen Notting Hill. I’ve been to London so many times… I’ll fix it when I go next 🙂 x

Go on a saturday, stop at Notting Hill Gate, walk up and go to Portobello Market, see the houses, see the lifestyle, and then resent yourself for not being rich enough to live there
